Plant City is the east end of our service area and the character of the work changes out here. Properties are larger, a lot of them are working land, and the oaks that have been standing in the middle of a field for a hundred and fifty years are on a different scale entirely from anything in a subdivision.
It is also the part of our area where a job is as likely to be clearing a fence line as trimming a front-yard tree.
Century-old field oaks
The open-grown live oaks on the farm properties here have enormous lateral spread, because nothing ever competed with them for light. They are magnificent and they are also the trees most at risk from end-weight failure on a long limb. Selective reduction rather than removal is almost always the right answer with these, and they are worth spending money to keep.
Grove and fence-line clearing
A good deal of what we do out here is agricultural rather than ornamental: taking out declining citrus, clearing scrub off a fence line, opening up a field edge. That gets quoted by the job on site, not by the tree.
Storms come across from the east
Plant City catches severe weather moving in from inland as well as the systems coming off the Gulf, and it sees more straight-line wind damage than the coastal parts of our area. We run the same 24/7 emergency response out here as everywhere else.
