Temple Terrace is about ten minutes east of our yard and it is one of the few places in the county with its own city tree ordinance, separate from both Tampa and unincorporated Hillsborough.
It is also one of the prettiest tree canopies in the area, with mature oaks along the Hillsborough River and through the older streets around the golf course.
The city's own tree ordinance
Temple Terrace regulates tree removal within city limits under its own code, and it is not the same as Tampa's or the county's. Certain trees require a permit before removal even on private property. We will tell you at the estimate whether your tree is likely to need one, and we do not start work on a protected tree without it.
River-edge trees
The properties backing onto the Hillsborough River carry large live oaks and cypress on ground that holds water. Root plates in that soil are less secure than they look, and the trees lean out toward the light over the water. Those jobs are rigged so nothing goes in the river.
Old grove and specimen trees
Some of the original Temple Terrace properties still have citrus and specimen plantings from the 1920s development. Several are genuinely worth preserving. If we think a tree is one of those, we will tell you what it would take to keep it before we quote you to take it down.
